Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will a robot be in charge of my dental implant treatment?
A. Dr. Gutt, a board-certified periodontist with 30 years of implant experience, will treat you from start to finish. He will be assisted by YOMI®, a high-tech robot that takes dental implant treatment to the next level. Dr. Gutt is always in full control of the YOMI® robot.
Q. How does YOMI® make implant placement more precise?
A. Dr. Gutt plans your treatment in advance using YOMI®’s advanced software. The robot then assists him in placing implants at the precise location, angle, and depth.

A. YOMI® is designed to provide enhanced precision, accuracy, and efficiency. Dr. Gutt can complete your surgery in less time using YOMI®.
Q. Why is treatment with YOMI® less invasive?
A. YOMI® displays Dr. Gutt with continual, real-time visual and auditory guidance on a computer monitor. Combined with haptic or touch guidance, YOMI® makes it possible for Dr. Gutt to use a minimally invasive approach to dental implant placement.
Q. Why is recovery time faster with YOMI®?
A. With YOMI®’s assistance, Dr. Gutt places dental implants in the precise location using a minimally invasive technique, rather than the traditional method of creating an incision in your gum and pealing back a large flap of tissue. This approach means faster recovery after surgery.
Q. Can I get implants placed at my first visit?
A. Yes, in some cases. Prior to YOMI®, it was often necessary for Dr. Gutt to take an impression and send it to a dental laboratory to make a surgical guide prior to treatment. With YOMI®, this step is eliminated, which saves the patient time and costs. In some cases, patients can be fully evaluated and treated at their first visit, depending on available time.
Q. Has YOMI® been reviewed by the FDA?
A. Yes. YOMI® has received FDA (510) K clearance.
Q. What is the future of dental implants with YOMI®?
A. Dr. Gutt is the first periodontist in Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County to introduce YOMI® to patients and the dental community. YOMI® is now being utilized by dental schools and leading-edge dental implant surgeons around the country.
